Alexander Rappaport was passionate about painting, he had drawn and painted all his life. In 2004 he published a book of theoretical and philosophical texts Ninety-Nine Letters on Painting (Moscow, NLO). At Papardes he equipped a painting studio and created many works there in the twenty years he lived there. He often spoke about how important it was and what a sacral part of his thinking was occupied by this phenomenon.
An exhibition of the watercolour paintings of Alexander Rappaport was held in Riga in the Summer of 2024 at Maxim Boxer Gallery. Alongside a small book was published with images accompanied by his texts on painting, and several essays. This was the last exhibition of his works to be held in his lifetime, and the last publication which he witnessed and very much appreciated.
